Doreen Hyat, one of our FH residents and member of our FH Tennis Club, fought through the heat in the Senior National Games Tennis competition in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania last week.
Doreen played both Singles and Mixed Doubles (with Dan Frey) in the competition. She and Dan ended up in 6th place out of a total of 18 teams competing. In singles she played against the #1 seeded player and lost in a tiebreaker. These scores show true endurance.
To qualify for the Senior Nationals, Doreen (and Dan) had to win the Craven County Senior Game competition last spring and then compete, and win, in the NC State Senior Games which were held last fall.
Doreen also played in the Senior Games this spring and will progress to the State Finals in September. She will be joined there by two other FH Tennis Club members, Pam Kovacs and Susanne Pendleton, who will also compete for their first time in the State Women’s Doubles Games.
We wish all our members the best of luck as they move up the Tennis Ladder!
