I hope everyone has been enjoying their summer! I was able to go back to Southern California and see family and friends and we did have warmer than usual temperatures, but nothing like the South East. The funniest thing I heard was when my younger son was complaining about the humidity in San Diego. I’m pretty sure my eyeroll was just as funny as that statement.
The hospital auxiliary members have been busy over these summer months with knitting and crocheting baby blankets and lap robes and afghans for patients. We also sew surgery pillows for heart and mastectomy patients, as well as catheter privacy bags for patients who are in the Carolina East rehab facility. Many of the auxiliary volunteers have been very busy with our annual Christmas Stocking Project where we sew the stockings and make small reusable items to fill them. We also collect items such as small toothpaste tubes, bars of soap, playing cards and puzzle books. This is quite an undertaking, but it gives us such joy to give these stockings to patients who are in the hospital during the holidays. Thank you, Ruth Blackwell, for organizing this!
When we return to our usual monthly meetings this September 18th, we will get right to work with planning many events for the fall season. On Saturday October 7th, the auxiliary will hold a Breakfast/Bake Sale at the FH Community Center to coincide with the semiannual yard sale. Please stop in and enjoy all the homemade treats and hot-from-the-oven delicious cinnamon buns served every half-hour by our very own Jenny Nebe. Much gratitude to Janell Ringuette for always doing such a wonderful job planning these events. The auxiliary is also running a booth at the yard sale, selling donated items which the funds will go back into the auxiliary for Carolina East Hospital. A big thanks to Mary Lou Infinito for taking on this project! On the evening of October 18th, the auxiliary will host a Friendship Wine and Dessert gathering where anyone and everyone is invited to come and socialize. The following Saturday, October 21st, will be the annual FH Fall Craft Fair where the auxiliary will sell lunch including homemade soup for shoppers and crafters. Several of the crafters are auxiliary members and would love to see you there!
The FH Hospital Auxiliary will meet on September 18th at 9:30 in the FFH Community Center. It’s a great way to meet new friends and become involved in our community in helping Carolina East Medical Center. Please join us and see what we’re all about. Our organization is completely free of cost. For membership information you may contact our Chairperson, Ruth Blackwell or Darlene Madorma, Membership Chair.
