Fairfield Harbour Garden Club Update

On January 8, 2024 the Garden Club held it’s first meeting of 2024. Happy New Year!!

The members welcomed speaker David Hite from the Tryon Palace. David gave an informative presentation on Growing Herbs for your garden.  There were many questions and all were answered. Everyone agreed that they would like David to return to lecture on a different topic.

Sandy Riggs and her committee is working on planning the Garden Clubs Annual Bus Trip. The destination has not yet been determined. The Annual Bus Trip is always a great time. The trip is opened up to members of the Garden Club first, so if you were considering becoming a member, now would be a great time to sign up. Stay tuned for further details as the planning continues.

Hazel Alcock will be sending out Scholarship Forms to the school counselors this month. Every year the Garden Club presents one $1,000.00 scholarship to a qualified student in the Craven or Pamlico counties. The student must be enrolled in or attending a college seeking a degree in horticulture or related studies.

Barbara Paulsen stated that the Webb site: FHGardenClub.com is shaping up nicely.

Lucille Durst raffled off two potted Tulips for this month’s door prizes. The winners were: Carolyn Berry and Clare Ostrosky.

The next meeting of the Fairfield Harbour Garden Club will be February 12, 2024 at 9:30 in the Community Center. The speaker, Laura Lewis, of the Craven-Pamlico Bee Keepers will give an informative discussion on bees and bee keeping. Laura is a local beekeeper. Everyone is welcome to attend!
