2024 Priorities for Fishing Club

The Fairfield Harbour Fishing Club has established its priorities for 2024.  Members are encouraged to act as initiative coordinators, event leaders, and event participants.  Here are the 2024 FHFC priorities:

  • Art Thinguldstad will coordinate the acquisition of speakers and other information sources for each club meeting that provide useful information for the month’s fishing in Eastern North Carolina.

  • FHFC will run classes, open to all local, active, and want-to-be fishermen, that are focused on enhancing participants’ fishing success and enjoyment.  Art Thinguldstad will coordinate this activity unless somebody else volunteers.

  • John McClain will coordinate the FHFC Hope for the Warrior Fishing Event.  This event will get the warriors fishing from Club member boats in the New Bern area.

  • FHFC will sponsor at least one members-only fishing event per month.  These events will focus on currently available species and include post-event picnics, cookouts, or other socializing opportunities.   The Club is seeking members to coordinate these events and lead individual events.

  • The Club will sponsor or at least participate in fishing and socializing events with the Lower Neuse Anglers and Eastern Salt Water Fishing Club focused on Speckled Trout, Striped Bass, and trophy Red Drum.

  • The Club will sponsor a shore-based fishing event for the New Bern Boy’s and Girl’s Club and/or Fairfield Harbour children. The Club is seeking coordinator(s) for that/those events.

  • The Club will run at least one event focused on getting non-boat-owner members fishing from boats in the New Bern area.  Mike Siegel and Howard Fein are planning this event.

  • FHFC members are encouraged to participate in at least one Craven County Clean Sweep Event or other fish habitat enhancement activity.  Paul Weise is coordinating this initiative.

  • The Club will advocate for fish resources and environmental improvements through support of the North Carolina Coastal Conservation Association and active participation in the state’s fishing regulatory activities.   Art Thinguldstad is coordinating this initiative.

  • Art Thinguldstad will coordinate the club’s efforts to promote social interactions after club fishing events and other stand-alone events like club meetings and the Holiday Party.

The Club meets at 7 PM on the first Wednesday of each month except December.  Visitors are always welcome.
