"Libraries are one of the most magical places on earth!"

Megan McCollum, Charlie Woodall, Victoria Hungerford

The Book/Tech Mobile made its first visit to Fairfield Harbour on Wednesday, March 15. What a treat to explore the many opportunities this free resource from Craven County offers us.

Victoria Hungerford is the Adult Outreach Supervisor that manages the program. Stop by and pay the Book/Tech Mobile a visit. You will be amazed at the vast array of free resources they offer. The Book/Tech Mobile visits the third Wednesday of each month.

Victoria Hungerford, Adult Outreach Supervisor

Victoria Hungerford, Adult Outreach Supervisor from Craven Pamlico Regional Library, loves books and the opportunities they bring to open our world.

Victoria says, "I love books and believe libraries are the most magical places on earth. The most favorite part of my job is seeing a patron's face light up when I tell them they can check out a laptop and hotspot and access over 600 online educational courses for FREE with their library card. It's true, libraries (and the CPRL Book/Tech Mobile) transform people's lives, and I get to witness it daily working at CPRL."

“Here in the Outreach Department, we love what we do, books and helping people. We are so excited to serve the Fairfield Harbor community and appreciate the opportunity to meet the community each month.”

Here is more information about the Book/Tech Mobile:

Tech Time at the Library

The CPRL Book/Tech Mobile is a library on wheels and comes with books, laptops, and hotspots for patrons to check out. During the book stop, we are happy to provide Tech Time for patrons: one on one technology training that takes 5 minutes or less. We can also offer Tech Training classes for small groups of 3-5, which we plan on doing in the future when weather permits. All our branch locations offer Tech Time for up to 20 minutes and require an appointment with library staff.

Universal Class- A Universe of Knowledge

CPRL is proud to offer Universal Class to patrons who can learn a new hobby, sharpen their skills, or earn a certificate in over 600 free online classes! Stop by the Book/Tech Mobile to learn about this beautiful resource. Patrons can also earn CEUs in Universal Class.

CPRL Book/Tech Mobile

CPRL had a soft opening of the Book/Tech Mobile in June of 2021, and it was used to attend special events in the community. In January 2022, Victoria Hungerford was hired into the Outreach Department, and it evolved into what it is now, a library on wheels. As the demand for the Book/Tech Mobile grew in the community, Megan joined the team in September of 2022 and is a vital team member of the department. In 2022, the Outreach Department reached over 5,176 people in the community with Book/Tech Mobile stops, visits to senior centers and nursing homes, collaborating with organizations to provide special programs for the community, delivering library resources to homebound patrons and rural communities, as well as attending community events and festivals. Donations are accepted to help support the exceptional efforts of the CPRL Book/Tech Mobile - Outreach Department.
