YOUR TEE BOX SHOULD NOT BE DETERMINED BY AGE AND GENDER BUT BY SKILL LEVEL!

Ever since COVID people are flocking to the golf courses more than they ever have. When starting out, it is crucial to select the appropriate tee box for your game. A good example is skiing. You won’t see a beginner skier take on a double black diamond slope right off the bat. They will start with beginner friendly slopes and work their way up. The same concept should be used for golf. If you’re new to the game, you should be starting from the most forward tees. Too often these tees are referred to as the “Women’s” tees or “Senior” tees. Tee boxes should be viewed as skill level instead of age and gender. The most forward tees can be considered the novice tees, while the furthest back tees can be considered the most advanced tee.

One of the things that makes Harbour Pointe unique is that we have wordage on the back on the scorecard that suggests which tee box you should play based on how far you hit the ball, and your handicap. Selecting the right tee will increase your enjoyment of the game. A survey was done by the PGA of America that stated 90% of all golfers were playing from the wrong set of tees.

Next time you’re out on the course try playing at a tee box closer to the hole. I bet you will have lower scores and more fun!
