NC Coastal and Piedmont Chapter Antique & Classic Boat Show Saturday September 30, 2023 10 AM to 2 PM Blackbeard Sailing Club, 1215 Barkentine Drive, New Bern, NC FREE TO THE PUBLIC
The antique and classic boat show returns to Blackbeard Sailing Club for the third year in a row! In case you missed it last year, this unique event is sponsored by the NC Coastal and Piedmont (NC C&P) Chapter of the Antique & Classic Boat Society (ACBS). This international organization promotes and showcases the beauty and nostalgia of all manner of “retro boats.” Many eye-catching restored and original condition boats will be on exhibit for your viewing pleasure. This event is open to the public and admission is free. This is a wonderful family event and offers an up close look at a slice of American boating history. A great opportunity for children and adults of all ages to learn and participate.
New Bern has a long and celebrated boat-building history of its own. Included in the show will be boats built by Barbour Boatworks. While no longer in business, Barbour built hundreds of pleasure craft on the current site of the North Carolina Maritime Museum in downtown new Bern. Come to the show and see restored vintage boats by Chris-Craft, ELCO, Barbour and Thompson to name a few. Don’t forget to cast your vote for the “People’s Choice Award” as you stroll the grounds and take in the view.
Those in attendance will also have the rare opportunity to take a spin and go for a ride in some of the classy boats at the show. Free rides are limited and offered on a first come, first serve basis.
So mark your calendar and plan to attend the show September 30th at Blackbeard Sailing Club. This is your opportunity to see some beautiful and unusual boats. You might even get a ride in one. We anticipate that we will have 25-30 antique & classic boats displayed in water and on land in addition to all the sailboats at Blackbeard Sailing Club. We look forward to seeing you there.
