Hospital Auxiliary members head for their kitchens

Updated: Sep 28, 2022

These are a small sampling of handmade comfort items that were turned in at the Hospital Auxiliary’s September meeting.

Although members of the Fairfield Harbour Hospital Auxiliary typically spend most of their volunteer time for the hospital creating handmade comfort items for patients, October will find them in their kitchens preparing food to raise funds for purchasing the materials to make those items. There are two fundraisers on the docket in October, the Parking Lot Bake Sale and the annual Craft Show, both held at the Community Center. In addition to the fundraisers, the Auxiliary is looking forward to a FUN raiser, its annual potluck that will return after several years of hiatus due to COVID.

On Saturday, October 8, the community Parking Lot Sale will be held from 8 – 12 am. Both shoppers and vendors look forward to grabbing a cup of coffee and a piece of breakfast casserole to enjoy during the sale. Baked goods, such as muffins, cookies, brownies, and coffee cake, are packaged to be eaten on the spot or to be taken home to enjoy later. In addition, a 50/50 raffle adds to the fun and fundraising. The two bake sales, in April and October, are the Auxiliary’s primary fundraisers of the year. The bake sale is held inside the Community Center.

On Saturday, October 15, the community Craft Show will be held at the Community Center. This is an opportunity for Harbour residents to shop for unique items created by their neighbors. Many begin their Christmas shopping at the show. There are many talented people who participate in this event. This year the Hospital Auxiliary will be selling a variety of soups as a service to the vendors and attendees, and as an additional fundraiser for our group.

On Wednesday, October 26, members will bring their favorite dishes and gather at the Community Center to enjoy each other’s company. We also welcome dignitaries from CarolinaEast at this event. There is always delicious food, door prizes, and lots of fellowship at our potluck dinners and members are happy to once again be able to enjoy time together.

The Hospital Auxiliary meets on the third Monday of the month, at 9:30 am at the Community Center. Our next meeting is on October 17. If you would like more information about the Auxiliary, contact Chairperson Janelle Ringuett, 631-2070, or just come to our meeting.
