FFH Hospital Auxiliary News

Summer is nearly upon us, and difficult to wrap our minds around the winter holidays that are six months away, the Fairfield Harbour Hospital Auxiliary volunteers are gearing up for our huge Stocking Project. This has been an ongoing mission of love where

the auxiliary members sew and decorate 200 stockings, which will then be filled with all kinds

of goodies &om toiletries to games and puzzles, and then given out on Christmas Eve by Santa and Mrs. Claus to all patients, who are in the hospital over Christrnas. Last month, several of us got together to trace and cut the stockings and decorations that are attached to make each one uniquely special. Over the summer and fall months more than 20 members will sew the stockings with care and in December another crew will come together to fill them with all the special treats that are donated by our volunteers, community members, and FFH neighbors. On Christmas Eve, Santa and Mrs. Claus will deliver over 200 stockings to patients who need to be in the hospital over Christmas. We also make several stockings for children, who enjoy a special one on one visit with Santa. Ruth Blackwell is the chair of this huge project, and her little elves do a spectacular job of finishing just in time for Santa's special delivery.

The auxiliary members are also working on our Baby Blanket project, where during the month

of December each newbom receives a beautiful blanket and hand knit beanie hat to take home. We make 150 of these cute cozy sets, and Lucille Durst and her team manage the entire project beautifullyl

The auxiliary will not meet in July and August but will resume meetings on September 18e at

9:30 in the FFH Community Center. It's a great way to meet new 'friends and become involved in our community in helping Carolina East Medical Center. Please join us and see what we're all about. Our organization is completely free of cost and for membership information you may contact our Chairperson, Ruth Blackwell or Darlene Madorma, Membership Chair.

Have a spectacular summer!
