Master Gardeners Hazel Alcock, Jane Haeussler, and Lucille Durst hosted a “Question and Answer” forum. The members participated well, and both were enjoyed thoroughly.
Jane Haeussler and Lucille Durst presented information about the prize for the next Garden Club Raffle/Fundraiser. The raffle will include a Gardening Bench and Tool Bag with gardening tools. Tickets will be sold at the April General Meeting as well as the April 6th POA Spring Parking Lot Sale. The drawing will be held at the end of the April General Meeting on April 8, 2024. Anyone interested in purchasing raffle tickets may contact Lucille Durst at lusteve5909@suddenlink.net or Jane Haeussler at janehaeussler@hotmail.com. Tickets are $2.00 for one ticket or $5.00 for three tickets.
Lucille Durst raffled off two garden flags for this month’s door prizes. Kathy Fuller and Hazel Alcock were the winners.
The Fairfield Harbour Garden Club Yard of the Month Committee will begin scouting in April for the May Yard of the Month.
Some of the guidelines for nominating a Yard of the Month include the following:
Does the yard have proportion, rhythm, scale, balance, and focal point;
Are the plant materials and colors interesting and
Are the choices suitable to the location;
Does the landscaping have a finished look and
Is the yard well groomed and cared for?
The winner of the May Yard of the Month will be posted in the June Beacon Article.
The Fairfield Harbour Garden Club's next meeting will be on April 8th,2024, at 9:30 in the Community Center.
This month's speaker will be Christine Stoughton Root, a Bird Watcher and photographer. She will discuss Backyard Birding essentials, including feeders, food, nest boxes, and water features, to create a safe environment for the birds. All are welcome to attend.
